A few of the 1,000 replicas of the "Starsky & Hutch" cars built by Ford at its Chicago manufacturing plant in the Spring of 1976. The car paid homage to the popular Spelling-Goldberg TV series that aired on ABC from 1975-79, and was brought back to life in a 2004 spoof adaptation motion picture that starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Starsky’s two-door Ford Gran Torino, painted red with a large white vector stripe, was a central fixture in both the television series and motion picture.
Photographed at the 2010 International Route 66 Mother Road Festival in Springfield, Illinois on September 24-26, 2010.
